Industrial Visit to Sathanur Dam Hydro Power Station

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an industrial visit to Sathanur Dam Hydro Power Station on 17 July 2026, with 60 students and 4 faculty members participating. The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to the working principles and operation of a hydroelectric power plant.

Students observed major electrical and mechanical equipment such as the Kaplan turbine, synchronous generator, 11 kV/33 kV step-up transformer, governor system, control panels, switchgear, and protection systems. They gained a better understanding of the power generation, voltage transformation, control, and protection processes involved in transmitting electrical power.

The visit enabled students to relate their classroom learning with real-time industrial applications, enhancing their technical knowledge and practical understanding of power generation systems.
