The 2nd and 3rd-year EEE students of Don Bosco Polytechnic College visited Ennore Thermal Power Plant on 19th July 2024. The trip commenced with an introduction by Mr. Murali, who introduced the operations of the plant, stating that this plant generates 24-lakh turn-over per day. It covered all sections of the plant, like a visit to the boiler unit, turbine, and control room, from where they got an insight into the intricate operations involved in power generation. Mr. Murali elaborated on the role of the plant in meeting the energy needs of not one or two but several states and why there is an equally significant need for both renewable and non-renewable sources of energy.
Students learned much about the application of coal, the role and its importance regarding reheating processes, and also about the innovations like the discovery of serolin metal by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Finally, a feedback session was organized and the students thanked the college management for their exposure to this enriching experience.
