I take the privilege to welcome you all to the Department of Basic Engineering 1st year at Don Bosco polytechnic.

The aim of the department is to impart the students a sound knowledge of the theory of Basic Engineering subjects with exposure to practical knowledge through laboratories and field study. The combination of Basic+ Engineering+ teacher is our added strength. Our department has a team of qualified and experienced faculty and staff members. We always work with the motto “NOTHING CAN BE ACHIVED WITHOUT A TRUE EFFORT”

The Basic Engineering department comprises of disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering graphics and English.

The department takes care of imparting through knowledge of the basic principles and application aspects of physics, chemistry, and mathematics in various engineering branches. This will help first year diploma engineering students to understand and apply the concepts of engineering during their second- and third- year course of study.

The students seeking admission to the diploma courses do not have the required proficiency in English. both theory and practical, are offered by the Basic Engineering Department to help the students to attain English proficiency.

Drawing is the language of engineers. It is the only media of expressing thoughts and imaginations for giving them the practical shape. For developing the capability to communicate engineering ideas using pictorial representations using certain universal conventions, courses of Engineering Graphics are offered for all the branches of diploma.

Every student of diploma course is expected to have the knowledge in basic shops like fitting, plumbing, carpentry, welding and sheet metal. It is expected that students should be able to carry out minor installation work/ repair work of domestic appliances independently. A workshop practice course is offered to develop such skills for the branches in diploma.

Students enjoy the regular industrial visits, Extensive survey project based on their curriculum and scope of the study. A Diploma Basic Engineering has a wide variety of employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors.

We encourage regular interaction among students, parents and staff along with a training and placement cell which works full time for a bright future for the students. Hence, I am sure that the Basic Engineering 1st year of DBPC college will make the nation proud. I assure that all facilities with leading technology are accomplished in our college

Objective

Diploma graduates will serve in the different sectors with technical competence and interpersonal skills to face the challenges of the industries.

Diploma graduates will be involved in the execution of All Engineering projects through innovative ideas.

Diploma graduates will take up higher education programmes in reputed institutions or become successful entrepreneurs.

Methodology

The success of our Polytechnic is largely attributed to the exuberant faculty members who will have rich in qualification, high in spirits, disciplined and devoted to the core. Perhaps the most productive and effective method of teaching and monitoring will be implemented at this institute, called – Tutor System, wherein, a batch of students are entrusted to a teacher for not just instruction but as much for care, parenting and counselling. Problems faced by the students will thus resolved and even the head of the department pitches in to help. In addition there will be periodical appraisal and evaluation of students. This methodology will ensure that the students feature in the University Merit List during each and every academic year.
